About

Danee G. Samonte has been in the forefront of music production and concert promotion as early as 1967. He was one of the architects of the Musical revolution that occurred in the Philippines in the Martial Law years discovering musical hall of fame greats like Hotdog and Sangkatutak.

During the 70s, he was also the country’s # 1 pop DJ. He used the radio name Steve O'Neal. In between his daily radio gig, he worked as A & R for Villar Records who was representing the biggest names in the music industry as CBS (Columbia), Warner Brothers, Motown, RCA, Atlantic, etc and also dabbled into producing albums, song writing and producing concerts.

By the early 80s, he pioneered the MTV shows in the Philippines. There were times he had 3 daily shows in different TV channels. Some of his top rated shows included "Yesterday, Video Rewind, Eurorock, Dance Dance Dance, Mellow, Top Hits, Hollywood Music Library" just to name a few.

He turned into comedy shows in the 90s producing top 10 rated weekly TV shows like Starzan, Stay Awake and Mr. DJ starring TV/Movie Superstar Joey De Leon. In the mid 90s, he embarked into grandiose productions like the FAMAS Awards (local counterpart for the Oscars) and Aliw Awards (local counterpart for the Grammy's).
